Even band from Baguio is the 2008 Muziklaban Grand Champion. Even is composed of vocalist Dyanne Licudine (St. Louis University (SLU), guitarist Jam Bumanlag (University of the Cordilleras), Mark Sacipan (NIIT), drummer Jeric Mojica (St. Louis University), and samplist Gerald Guerrero (University of Baguio). One of the interesting features of the group is the inclusion of a samplist as a member of its band, which is not very common. A sampler is an electronic music instrument closely related to a synthesizer. Instead of generating sounds from scratch, a sampler starts with multiple recordings of different sounds, and then plays each back based on how the instrument is configured.
