Passive Geothermal Heating
This is the most important feature of the geothermal heat pumps is that it has the ability of passive heating. What is the meaning of passive heating let us find out. So this differential which is created naturally is used by the geothermal heat pumps to take the warm air from below the Earth's surface and then take it to the compressor and then circulate it in the residential or commercial buildings.
This is known as the passive heating and it is the characteristic of geothermal heating pumps.
This feature of geothermal pumps has enabled it to reduce the emissions of carbon-did-oxide and other harmful gases like carbon mono oxide, sulphur- di -oxide, nitrogen oxide etc.
So these pumps are efficient, easy to use and maintenance free.
The major problem which it encounters is the area of the cost of installation of these pumps. The cost of installation is very high. But this cost can be recovered within the span of five to ten years.
So this is all about the passive heating mechanism of geothermal heat pumps and its advantages and other features.
Wireless Alphabet Soup What's The Difference Anyway
At this point, you might have read a few feature lists for wireless cards, and you're about to ask a very common question: what's the difference anyway? Well, answering that question requires a brief rundown of the history of wireless networking so far.
The Beginning: 802.11.
The first wireless networking standard was simply called 802.11, without a letter after its name, and was released in 1997. It is now sometimes called 'legacy 802.11' — no-one uses the original 802.11 standard any more.
The 802.11 standard was never really popular to begin with, in fact, mainly because it offered wireless equipment manufacturers so many different choices on which parts of the standard to implement. This left users in a situation where they were more-or-less stuck with one set of wireless devices, and interoperability was hard to come by.
A Breakout Hit: 802.11b.
With the revision of the standard in 1999, 802.11 became 802.11b, and that's when things really started to take off. 802.11b streamlined the standards to provide greater interoperability, without making too many changes — existing wireless devices were easily upgraded to the new standard, which meant that 802.11b wireless appeared on the market quickly.
Many advantages came with the upgrade to 802.11b. It was over ten times faster than 802.11 (11Mbps instead of 1Mbps), and yet cheaper. People loved 802.11b, and it was around this time that wireless networking technology started to take off in a big way.
Oops: 802.11a.
As a counterpoint to the 802.11b success story, consider 802.11a. The a and b standards were originally intended to present a choice to the consumer, with a offering higher speeds than b in exchange for reduced range. As it turned out, though, 802.11a was an utter failure.
Why? Well, 802.11a's downsides were simply too great to bear. Sure, it gave speeds of 54Mbps — almost five times faster than 802.11b — but it would only work if you had a clear line of sight between the two wireless devices. If there's nothing between the devices then, well, why not just use a wire?
As a final nail in the coffin, 802.11a products didn't start to appear on the market until 2001. By then, people were used to 802.11b, and no-one was interested in getting a speed increase in exchange for such a dramatic range decrease.
Speed With No Downsides: 802.11g.
In 2003, with the lessons of the 802.11a failure learned, a new standard was created — 802.11g. The aim of this standard was to combine the best of both worlds, giving the speed of 802.11a with the range of 802.11b.
Well, it was some time in the making, but they managed it. 802.11g devices run at 54Mbps, but are otherwise the same as 802.11b ones. Even better, 802.11g devices are backwards compatible with 802.11b ones, meaning that you can use them together in your network.
What to Choose.
So you know the advantages and disadvantages of everything, but what should you choose if you're buying a wireless device today?
Well, first of all, avoid legacy 802.11 (if you somehow find it) or 802.11a. They will not work with your other wireless equipment, and are generally quite useless.
That leaves you with the choice of 802.11b or 802.11g. Considering that most broadband connections run well below the speed of 802.11b (11Mbps), which you choose probably won't make any difference to your external Internet access. The area where it matters is when you transfer things around within your network — if you're sending a file from your laptop computer to your desktop one, for example, it will happen five times faster with g than it would with b.
There is another consideration in your decision, however, and that's price: g devices are still quite a lot more expensive than b ones. If you're mainly planning to use your wireless network to connect to the Internet then b will do everything you need, but that hasn't stopped lots of people upgrading to g who didn't really need to. This means that the market is flooded with cheap 802.11b wireless equipment that still works perfectly!
If you want to know the secret of wireless networking on a budget, then that's it: get 802.11b equipment for a few dollars, then sit back and watch your network work just as well as the ones that cost hundreds.

The world today is powered mostly by oil and other oil-based products.

Tidal Energy - This works like the hydroelectric, but in a smaller scale. This type of alternative energy uses turbines to generate electricity however; there are many drawbacks with its use. It cannot be built anywhere. As of today, there are only 9 sites found feasible to build tidal power plant and only two are being used. One reason is that it can affect species of bird, especially the migratory birds. Fisheries could also be affected. Biomass - This alternative energy may be animal waste, agricultural crops, grains, wood, mill residues, forest, and aquatics. When fermented, biomass can create alcohol. The alcohol produced can be comparable to coal. However, this form of alternative energy can produce greenhouse gases since fuels are burned.
There are other alternative energies such as fusion, fuel cells and hydrogen, nuclear, and geothermal. All these can power the world in the future but all have effects on the environment like those of the mentioned above. It may produce energy but will certainly bring other negative effects either on nature or man. But then you would think, is oil also creating negative effects on the environment?
Here, we have no choice but to use these types of alternative energy to get our lives going.
Recycling Are You Doing Everything You Can
It may come as a surprise to you, but there is a really good chance that the town or city you live in offer a service you may not have heard of; an energy audit. Cities and towns all over the country have started doing this, where an auditor comes to your home and goes through your living space and helps you to see where you could make changes that will not only help you conserve energy but will help you save money! Don't leave a light on when you walk out of a room and no one else is in there. And have you changed your light bulbs from the traditional ones to the compact flourescent kind? Don't run the dishwasher or the washing machine unless they are full. It's a waste of energy and water to run a cycle through the dishwasher when it's only half full. Don't turn it on until you have a full load to wash and then just wash them all at once.
Use microfiber cloths for cleaning all kinds of surfaces like furniture, counters and sinks. The bonus is that these items can be tossed into the washer and are perfectly able to be reused again and again. Think of the savings in paper towels alone! Talk about a win-win; if we use fewer paper towles, then that means fewer trees need to be cut to make them in the first place. How can we go wrong with thinking like that?
Take shorter showers and see if you can pick up a shower head that is a water-conserving item, already in place, that will save you money and you'll never even notice the difference during your shower.

Fiber Optics Connector
The fiber optics connector is not as simple as a crimp-on copper connector; it is a multi-part technical connector with many pieces, designed to the specific purpose of the fiber optic line. There are certain inherent technical issues with the fiber optic connector that have to be addressed in any application.
Design of the Fiber Optic Connector
Fiber optic connectors come in a variety of forms based on the needs of the specific application. However, all of them have the same basic construction, varying only for thickness of cable and actual connection type.
The ferrule is a long, thin cylinder that holds the actual fiber optic cable. It differs from the cable jacket in that it doesn't go the length of the cable, but is only near the fiber optic connector. It serves to align the fibers to facilitate the cable entering the connection in the right position.
The connector body is the end piece that most people think of as the fiber optic connector, when it is only a part of the complicated whole. The body can be made of multiple pieces, but it is all meant to help the ferrule hold the cable in place. Commonly, these are bonded in some way to strengthen members and jackets that help with strain relief, and help the body guide the ferrule through into the connection device.
The cable itself plays its own part in the connection, as it is connected to the connector body typically through the jacket that keeps it from kinking at the connection to the body and ferrule. The main purpose is to provide the point of entry for the fiber into the ferrule.
The coupling device is where the connection is actually made, and typically bares little resemblance to the usual electric connections. It can be little more than an alignment sleeve that lines up the polished ends of the fibers in such a way that an accurate transfer can be made. These don't have to be strictly cable to cable. They can also be installed in fiber optic transmitters and receivers to connect the network up. In this application they can be known as through-bulkhead adapters.
Once all these parts are together the fiber optic connector is still a fragile piece. It can be damaged by everything, from impact to airborne dust particles. One of the main reasons for this fragility is in the ends of the fibers themselves. After cleaving, the fiber ends must be carefully cleaned and polished. It is during this polishing that they can be so easily damaged, as even microscopic damage can hinder data transmission, so care must always be taken.

Even the White House has finally admitted that there is a hole in the ozone layer and we need to do something about it. When wind and solar energy is used, it can transform only 30% of the sun's heat into usable energy. The photovoltaic (PV) panels that make up 92% of the current solar power gathering technology can only transform 15% of the sun's heat into usable energy (according to BusinessWeek).
Yikes.
Don't Give Up
Just because the solar energy efficiency of current times can make you wince, is no reason to give up on the idea of solar energy. Remember when the first computers came out? They took up entire office buildings and all they did was the mathematical equivalent of cracking walnuts. But not you can find computers chips as small as … well, actually, I've never seen one. My eyes are really bad. Believe me, you could a computer chip right on my eye and I still wouldn't see it.
But the point is, if there is a big financial and survival reason to improve the solar energy efficiency ratings, we can do it. We did it with phones, personal computers and M&Ms. We can do it with solar power.

There are promising solar energy efficiency improvements in the solar power panels themselves. Instead of being rigid, they can now roll up in a mat for easy portability. They can't light your house, but they can charge up your phone, mP3 player or any other small appliance. You can easily find these solar energy efficiency fueled mats in camping supply shops.
For years now, other common items we use everyday can be run entirely on solar power, or at least the power of indoor lights. These items include watches, calculators and indoor wind chimes. Okay, maybe you don't use indoor wind chimes everyday, but other people do and they don't need to plug it into the wall.
How about if everyone had one appliance that ran solely on solar power? At this point in time, every little savings to the ozone layer helps.

Even there are many different type of water source heat pumps; water to air heat pumps, water to water heat pumps and hybrids pumps. Water to air pumps is central unit which produces heat during winter and air conditioning during summer. Water to water heat pump utilizes hot water for heating building. A hybrid pump produces forced air heat and hot water together or individually.
Though Geothermal heating systems are three times expensive than traditional heating systems but they are very cheap to run and maintain; so afterward maintenance cost is reduced and most important of all they are eco friendly. When you think of recycling do you sigh and think that you just don't have the time or energy to do it? Mind you, I've had 43 years of doing things the way I'd been doing them and the change didn't happen overnight, but it did happen. There hasn't been a doorway I've walked through in the past 6 months or so that I haven't given a quick inventory before passing through the threshold and thinking, "Did I leave any lights on?" The great thing is, the times that I have left a light on, I'm given the final opportunity to stop and turn around and turn off the lights before leaving the room for good. Is this a difficult change? Like I said, it didn't happen as soon as I thought about my part in the effort to recycle, but it is something I have allowed myself to consider on a daily basis.
The other way I have found to easily adhere to this recycling thing is that I changed my lightbulbs. Yup, that simple act of replacing a burned-out bulb with one of the new, energy saving kind has really been a big help. The newer bulbs use up to 75% less energy when lighting a room and they will last up to ten times longer, too. How can you beat that? And there wasn't any effort on my part; all I did was replace the bulb with the new and improved bulb and have made quite the impact on my electric bill.
The good news is this; there are easy ways to stay on track with recycling, and you don't have to look very far to find them.
