Volcan

The Chiriqui province of Panama hosts the quaint town of Volcan, which sits on the beautiful scenic highlands of this province. The town and surrounding areas are renowned for the fantastic coffee shops and farms, where coffee, fruits and flowers are grown. The western slope of the Baru volcano is home to this town. The resident people have the benefit of a low cost of living with a very well established and a stable infrastructure. The remarkable real estate prospects are also a major advantage. The town boasts of all modern day facilities like paved roads, supermarkets and medical facilities. People also avail themselves the opportunity of participating in cultural activities which includes visiting museums housing the ancient and medieval artifacts.

The highest peak in Panama is the dormant volcano recorded at 3475m above sea level, the peak is named Baru, the name of this peak is also used for the surrounding area of the Baru national park. According to widespread claims both the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans are visible on a clear day, from this high lying area. In terms of scenery the area has been compared to the European Alps. The same goes for the area in terms of the climatic conditions, because this area does not have the humidity and heat that lower lying regions do. The naturally beautiful scenery, wild orchids, the chance of spotting Toucans and Quetzals as well as the other indigenous fauna and flora all form parts of the center of attraction in this area. There other park nearby; The Amistad National Park, is termed ‘bi-national biosphere’ because it is shared with Costa Rica.

Unlike the rest of Panama, this area has not achieved as much in terms of the Panama real estate boom, as it has many investment and real estate opportunities that provide great value for one’s money. The sheer natural beauty, as well as the peaceful and tranquil environment is additional positive aspects to the area. Added to that, is the fact that, it is easy enough to reach both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts from this area due to its very central location. In short, if one wants to get away from the busy city lifestyle, mainstream activities and shift to a peaceful mountain village environment, then Volcan is the ideal place to consider.
