Tribute to Kevin
Kevin Fairfield grew up loving the outdoors. As a “Yooper” (that’s what people living in the U.P. or Upper Peninsula of Michigan are known as) from Ironwood Michigan the winters are long and cold. In the winters he would ice fish. In the short summers he loved to fish for trout and bass. His family had a hunting cabin with plenty of deer in the surrounding woods. Some years 300 inches of snow falls in Ironwood due to nearby Lake Superior causing lake snow. Kevin loved it and would often take pictures of his adventures.
We all wondered what kind of girl Kevin would find that would be willing to put up with his passion for fishing. Along came Laura who loved fishing nearly as much as Kevin. They were soon married and looked forward to starting a family.
After many frustrating years Kevin and Laura finally had a baby boy in 2006 who was their pride and joy. Kevin & Laura were heavily involved in their church and they both had successful careers.
All that changed 3 weeks ago on December 18, 2008. Kevin had called Laura telling her he was on his way home from work near Detroit. Kevin never made it home. A suspected drunk driver fleeing the scene of another accident was driving the wrong way on the freeway and hit Kevin head on killing him instantly.
Fox News Fatal Accident
Laura has decided to keep Kevin’s photography website www.knlmedia.com going as a tribute to him and to help pay for college for their son. You can see his passion for photography and nature in the hundreds of photos available. The one we bought shows the fireworks display celebrating the Mackinac Bridge 50th Anniversary. It is amazing!
Kevin Fairfield is my wife’s first cousin.
Please don’t drink and drive.
